‘Tearing the Curtain’

One nation from the world,
One man from that race,
One day of the year
Was he allowed in the Holy Place.
He had to be holy,
He had to be clean,
He had to make his offering
Before God’s face was seen.

Springing the trap; bridging the gap; tearing the curtain.
Pleading the case; storming the gates; tearing the curtain.
Meeting the need; taking the lead; tearing the curtain.
Making the pace; setting His face; tearing the curtain.

Jesus left the Father
To be our Great High Priest.
To break the back of Satan,
And his captives to release.
He tore the Temple curtain,
He suffered to forgive.
Once, where only one man entered
Is the place where we now live.

Background

A little side incident that happened when Jesus died has much inspired me as it symbolised so much of what Christ achieved. It was when the curtain to the Holy of Holies was torn top to bottom. (Mark 15:37-39)

I later re-worked the original Salt Solution song to make a song for use in worship.
