Pod the Alien Sketch : ‘What makes God happy?’

Standard introduction and entrance (Compere talking is interrupted by spaceship landing sound effects, I think I can hear a spaceship landing, lets look at the outside security camera. Overlay external photo of school with spaceship slide, landing. OHP off. Look here he is, it’s our friend Pod the Spaceman, arriving from another world. Spaceman enters)

Hello.
Hello Pod, how are you today?
Oh, I’m feeling… happy
(surprised) Oh that’s good, because you are usually puzzling over something when you arrive
Mmm, as you come to mention it; there is some thing that’s been puzzling me.
Ah, so what is it this time?
Does Jesus have feelings?
Oh yes, of course Jesus has feeling
So… does Jesus is ever get sad?
Yes, Jesus is sad when people miss out on the best of life, because they don’t know him
So does he shout and stamp his foot, and slam the door, and sit in a corner, and sulk.
No, no, Jesus has his arms open wide for anyone to come to him. Why do think he would behave like that?
Well that’s what I thought everyone…, I-I mean some people.. well me, I…I-I just wondered: Well what about happy, is Jesus ever happy?
Oh yes, Jesus happy when we do things that please him.
(Gasp) You mean that you can make God happy?
Yes, anyone can. We can each make Jesus happy, or sad, by what we do and say
No, but Jesus was there when the world was made, He tells each day when to dawn, and He calls each of the stars out by name, you can’t be telling me that each of these ones can make Jesus feel happy or sad, just by what they do.
Oh yes, because Jesus loves each of these people more than the sun and the stars, more than the whole world itself.
Even those little ones?
Even the littlest. You see for each of us that loves Jesus, and have asked Him to come and live in our heart, Jesus will keep us close to Him, even after the world has finished.
I can’t believe it. This is wonderful! So what do you do that makes God so happy?
Well we try to live like Jesus would, the way He taught us. To love each other, to be kind, and helpful; to tell the truth and let Jesus help us in everything we do.
And what makes Him sad?
Well he is sad when we are selfish, or unkind, when we lie, and when we keep Jesus out, and try to do everything on our own.
Wow, with all that I’ll bet some times God doesn’t know whether of be happy or sad!
Mmm, I sometimes think that myself. But it’s important to remember that whether we make God happy or sad, he always loves us. That’s why we want to do good things, so that we can make Him happy and show that we love him back.
Wow, it’s no wonder that you love Jesus. Well, I must be going now, but I’ve learnt something important on this trip, that you do good things to make God happy and to show Him that you love Him back, for loving you: Good-bye now, I’ll see you again next week.

Standard exit (leaves. Spaceship takes off on OHP overlay to accompanying sound effects through PA.)
