Pod the Alien
Pod is a puppet character created by Martin Day as a vehicle for teaching important lessons about life, the universe and everything. With his simple child-like view and excitable nature he is unafraid to ask the stupid questions and only too willing to volunteer his own take on things.
He has been successfully used in the family services of three churches and has a unique all-age appeal. Once he arrives he has a (scripted) conversation with an individual from and representing the congregation that somehow uncovers an important christian truth after several wrong turns and plenty of humour. The end result is that the audience feels informed but not preached to and entertained but not for entertainment’s sake.
Pod and his scripts have the potential to transfer to any church, youth club, children’s’ camp or event television. The character can be maintained even if he doesn’t look like this.

I suggest you watch and read the following in order to get the feel of his character and ability to deliver a message:

NB power points with intros feature a old fashioned movie-style leader countdown with ‘pearl & dead’ sound track. This is simply an attention grabber for when the Pod sketch has been an unannounced opener for a service. Only summer versions are available here (there are also winter versions to match the conditions outside the venue).
