‘Lonely’

(by Katina Keys)

I set to sea on a ship called emptiness
Cast away on an island of loneliness.
Looking for love, I was looking for love.
I never thought He would hear my SOS.
But He appeared like an angel of tenderness.
Sent from above He was bringing me love.

Looking back my life was meaningless
‘Till He opened my eyes to the limitless.
Wonder of love, now I’m filled up with love.
Now I see all the things in life that I missed.
‘Till He touched me with his love and tenderness
I’d never known He was bringing me home.

Background

This was a unique song for Salt Solution (then Mervyn Sprocket and the Crankshaft Assembly) as it was the only song ever performed that the lyrics were not written by Martin Day. Katina Keys the sister of the then drummer Kenton wrote these lyrics and it is included here for completeness.

For the curious…
Listen to the original recording of ‘Lonely’ from the 1983 cassette album by Mervyn Sprocket and the Crankshaft Assembly (later to become Salt Solution)

(NB this has been transferred from a cassette and the poor sound quality is only matched by the poor musicianship!)
