Salt Solution demos
Salt Solution issued three demo recordings that were (it must be said) of varying recording standard. Here they are in reverse chronological order. With one exception all lyrics were written by Martin Day and are included on each song page.
(Salt Solutions formal releases are detailed on the Releases page.)
The Art of Growing Old Demo
Salt Solution’s final demo cassette titled ‘The Art of Growing Old’ was released 1991 and recorded in their own portable recording studio.
NB: These recordings were later included in 2000’s Arctic Frosties album.
Salt Solution Demo
Salt Solution’s first studio recording was this 1984 Demo cassette.
Mervyn Sprocket and the Crankshaft Assembly Demo
Salt Solution was originally named Mervyn Sprocket and the Crankshaft Assembly*. Before the name was changed the band adventurously attempted to record some of their songs in their practice halls direct to 4 track reel-to-reel. The result is this savagely stereo self titled 1983 cassette demo. The versions included here were remixed by the original engineer, and long-time friend, Jim Champ in 2021 (the musicianship hasn’t improved, but the extreme stereo effect is now tamed – a facility we didn’t have back in ’83.
(*The original Mervyn Sprocket name has more recently been reclaimed by Martin Day for his latest work.)
